Mr. Jesutofunmi Omiye

Tofunmi Omiye is a 5th year medical student at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He is the Director of Media External at the Federation of African Medical Students’ Associations (FAMSA) where he has been responsible for a positive overhaul of the association, closely aligning the association with her goal of improving the health of the African people. One of his major projects at the association was the 2016 Antibiotics awareness campaign which was recognized by the United Nations and Science Museum, London.

 

He is also the Team-Leader of Ace (5) initiative, a charity organization focused on orphaned and less-privileged children which coordinates an annual Inter-Orphanage Spelling bee competition, orphanage outreaches and feeding of cadgers. He was a selected participant at the Harvard-MIT ImpactLabs summer workshop, where he led his team to design a prototype novel medical wearable device.

 

As a medical student, Tofunmi coordinates a team of enthusiastic young medical researchers and he is a winner of the prestigious GSK-Emeritus Professor O.O. Akinkugbe Inter-Medical School Quiz Competition. Tofunmi is passionate about healthcare and education in Africa and is constantly looking for ways in which media and technology can help propel the continent unto the path of sustainable development.

 

Having participated in several international conferences both home and abroad including: Bank of America Merrill Lynch Corporate Presentation, Access Conference, World Healthcare Students’ Symposium; and organized various symposia and meetups, he is excited about working with his efficient team to deliver the most high-impact general assembly for delegates and he cannot wait to meet everyone at FAMSA GA 2018.
