Dr A.T. Orunmuyi

Dr Orunmuyi is a Lecturer and Honorary Consultant in the Department of Radiation Oncology and the Department of Nuclear Medicine at The University of Ibadan and The University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan, Nigeria. He completed his undergrad medical studies from the University of Ilorin and obtained Masters in Medicine (Nuclear Medicine) from the University of Pretoria. He also holds a fellowship of the College of Nuclear Physicians of South Africa (FCNP,SA)

In addition to training and skills in Nuclear Medicine, Dr Orunmuyi gained laboratory experience that cuts across in-vitro nuclear medicine (radioimmunoassay), molecular biology (rna, dna & protein extraction, taqman and SYBRgreen techniques, qPCR) and Nano medicine (reporter gene imaging, Nano probes). As a lecturer, he dedicates his abilities to help his students advance their understanding of nuclear medicine and molecular biology concepts. Dr Orunmuyi uses a combination of expert/personal, model/formal authority as my primary teaching style. He is most satisfied when his students grasp the basic concepts of the topics he teaches and accomplish critical thinking.

Dr Orunmuyi has taken courses in leadership and management, which have helped him in roles requiring responsibility and trust such as academic board membership, University of Ibadan. He is a student mentor and an active participant in the design of the new postgraduate academic programme for nuclear medicine. His research interest in the area of basic translational biomedical science focuses on biomolecules involved in mutagenesis of the prostate gland. Other interests are in the evaluation of new PET tracers and the study of organizational development systems for health.

Overall, Dr Orunmuyi is a medical doctor. He treats his patients with humility, empathy and respect. Over the years he has cultivated clear and concise communication with his patients.
